(WARNING!: CONTAINS SPOILERS!)Synopsis: The story starts out with a 9 year-old boy wanting to go on a ship called the R.M.S Palais for his 10th birthday. The story starts on November 5, 1939. 1939 is the same year WW2 started. If you payed real close attention, you will see some references to some real life events from WW2, such as the Amber Room. The Amber Room was a room inside a Russian palace that was taken over by the Nazis. The owners of the palace tried to hide the amber room with wallpaper but was discovered by the Nazis. Nobody knows where it went after that. There is a reference at the beginning of the book in where the main character sees a black line as he turns left on St.George street. St. George street is a famous road in France and in St.Augustine. St. George street is also where my step-dad owns a store on. In the Amber room, a man says they were "Borrowed" from something 'Cow.' This is a reference to the persecution of Jews in Germany during WW2. There are also some references to other movies such as the Titanic Movie and the Britannic Movie. The part in which the ship's propellers are still moving, they crush a boat, and the ship falls on its side is from the Britannic movie. The part in which Third-Class passengers were locked in the ship and in which Monica dies of Hypothermia is from the Titanic movie.
